You can now very easily create templates that inherit most of their code from a master template.

Minor upgrade

We rolled out a minor upgrade last night, which includes a range of bug fixes, especially for problems with insertion into list controls. We're continually making minor updates like this: usually at least once or twice a week, sometimes a couple of times a day.

Regular expression searches

We've added a new function that you can use to do regular expression searches from XSL. It's called kit:regex-search().

Custom screens

We have introduced a new layout option for custom user interface screens.Previously, screens had a type of either "webtab" (the default), meaniing that a standard application header would be generated and embedded at the top of the screen's BODY tag; or they had a type of "dialog", meaning that the screen would be styled like a modal dialog.With the new "custom" type, you are free to specify your own layout for a screen. No code will be auto-generated other than that required to link in kit script libraries and core CSS files.

IE7 support

As of today, Internet Explorer 7 is a supported browser for the Kitsite platform. Not only that, but we would encourage IE6 users to upgrade. IE7 offers a better user experience (less glitchy CSS updating, for example), and fixes some long-standing and significant bugs.

If things have seemed a bit quiet over the past month or so, it's because there's been a lot going on behind the scenes. In particular, we have integrated the Yahoo User Interface library into our code. We think Yahoo! have done a great job of providing a robust, cross-platform library that handles many common patterns in user interface code. Though it hasn't been entirely painless getting it to play nice with our existing code base, we think it 's worth it. It should make our code easier to maintain and will speed up development for some kinds of new features.

Writing CSV in feeds

Comma-separated-value is a commonly used export format. Now you can easily generate CSV output from feeds using our new tag.
